Travel and Accommodation
It is the students’ and/or their university’s or their scholarship funds’ responsibility to arrange for the students’ arrival and departure at either Alice Springs or Darwin.
The RUSC team arranges all aspects of the students placements, including all internal NT travel, accommodation and gaining, where necessary ‘Entry Onto Aboriginal Land Permits’.
Travel to placement locations may be by light plane clinic, vehicle, Greyhound bus or transfer by NTGPE staff.

Accommodation
Aboriginal Communities
In remote Aboriginal communities suitable accommodation is at a premium. NTGPE does provide student accommodation by way of secure, fully equipped, one bedroom houses at 16 remote Aboriginal communities across the NT. At some communities accommodation may be leased from the Department of Health and Community Services, commercial accommodation or shared with clinic staff.

Alice Springs
NTGPE provides share accommodation for all students completing Central Australian placements in its three bedroomed unit and a in a friendly backpackers when numbers are larger. The unit is fully set-up with all furniture, linen and kitchen requirements, and students buy their own food to share and phone cards can be used to make calls from the unit. Where students are placed at an Alice Springs urban practice they will remain at the student unit.

Darwin
NTGPE provides share accommodation for all students completing Top End placements in its 4 bedroomed student house. Where students are placed at an urban practice at Darwin they will remain at the student house.

Tennant Creek
Students placed at any of the placement locations at Tennant Creek will stay at a fully furnished three bed roomed unit with a resident caretaker.

Katherine
Students placed at Katherine District Hospital will stay in the hospital accommodation, which is a self-contained one bedroom unit. Students placed at other location within Katherine will stay at a five bed roomed fully furnished house also used by Junior Doctors.
