Steps on How to Apply

1. Have a look at the NT RUSC community profiles on this website to assist you in answering the preferred locations for placement’ section on the application form.
  • Placements locations will not always be available at the time of your application your preferences will give us an idea of the type of placement which interests you.
  • Open the NT RUSC Pre-Placement Application Form. Read the instructions and application questions carefully.
  • This is an electronic form and will need to be filled out by typing into the fields. The form includes drop-down menus, which will be lost if printed.
2. Email the completed NT RUSC Pre-Placement Application Form: to the NT RUSC Coordinator emaill: [email protected]

The NT RUSC Coordinator will acknowledge receipt of your application and will then contact you within 10 working days to advise you of the status of your application.

Applications will be considered based on all criteria being met as well as responses to application questions; the availability of placement locations for the requested dates as well as the matching of students’ needs with that of the health centre or hospital.

Requests for student placements are made on a student-by-student basis to the supervising General Practitioner and Practice Manger at the relevant health centre/hospital for approval. This process may take considerable time.

Approval is generally not sought for student placements until 8 – 6 weeks prior to the placement commencement date. Students will not be told definitively where they are to be placed until after that time. Because of the volatile nature of the Northern Territory’s people, clinics and communities it is very often the case that because of situations beyond NTGPE’s control placement locations are changed at the last minute (sometimes even the day before). Please do not be surprised if this happens to you.
