Conferences & Support
As part of NTGPE’s ongoing education commitment to GP Trainers, NTGPE hosts conferences twice annually to enhance and support GP training and supervision. NTGPE provides all travel and acommodation associated with conference particpation and provides a sessional fee to conference particpants for attendance on the days that coincide with normal business hours. The end of each conference culminates with a Trainers dinner.
In addition NGPE has developed strategic partnerships with Centre for Medical & Health Sciences Education Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University for the delivery of the Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education and the Master of Health Professional Education and Flinders University for the delivery of the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma of Clinical Education. It is anticpated that GP Trainers will be able to enrol in theses courses from 2008.
NTGPE also offers opportunites for GP Trainers to attend national GP education events such as the GPET Convention and the RACGP’s annual national GP Trainers workshop.
Recenlty NTGPE became a subscriber to the Australian College of Rural and Remote Educations RRMEO e-learning portal and intends to utilise RRMEO as an online education and training tool. Registrars enrolled with NTGPE will use RRMEO to participate in online learning and education, communicate with peers and support staff, and to record their learning activities in the individual online learning planner. Trainers will also have access to RRMEO to record and monitor CPD and to keep abreast with Registrars learning and their learning planner.
All Trainers will receive training on RRMEO at conferences and be granted access via a user name and password.
To maintain effective communication and remain abreast with current issues NTGPE conducts quarterly teleconferences with all Trainers involved in GP training. The telconferences are facilitaed by the GP Trainer Liasion Officer who will contact all trainers for suggested agenda items and present items for disussion.
The next Trainers workshop will be held in Alice Springs, Friday 18th April - Saturday 19th April. For further information contact Nigel Gray.
