New Applicants
Applications to join the GP Registrar program are made to Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) via its website. It is a five step process that determines an applicants eligibility, preferred selection of training pathway, details required supporting documentation and the completion and lodgement of the application form. How to Apply and When
Applications for NTGPE’s GP Training Program are handled through Australian General Practice Training (AGPT). Applicants wishing to apply for entry to NTGPE’s GP Training Program are required to complete and submit an electronic application form which is accessible through the AGPT website (www.agpt.com.au) on the date applications open.

- 14 May 2010 – Online Applications Open (www.agpt.com.au)
- 16 June 2010 – Online Applications Close
- 18 June 2010 – Signed applications and supporting documents due
- 30 June 2010 - Referee reports due to GPET
- 28 July 2010 – Applicants notified of ranking bands
- 02 August 2010 – Applicant preference changes due to GPET
- 09 August 2010 – Applicants notified of Round 1 allocations by GPET
- 10 August 2010 – NTGPE will notify applicants of interview detail
Round 1 Interviews
- 14 August - 5 September 2010 - Round 1 GPET Interview period
- 27 August 2010 – NTGPE will hold Round 1 interviews
- 13 September 2010 – Final date for applicants to accept Round 1 offers
Selection process Round 2
- 17 September 2010- Applicants nominate Round 2 preferences
- 24 September 2010 – Applicant preference changes due to GPET
- 5 October 2010 – Applicants notified of Round 2 allocations by GPET
- 6 October 2010 – NTGPE will notify applicants of interview details
Round 2 Interviews
- 9 – 24 October – Round 2 GPET Interview period
- TBC – NTGPE will hold Round 2 interviews
- 1 November 2010 – Final date for applicants to accept Round 2 offers
Please note the tight schedule between notification of success in gaining an interview and actual interview dates. Please forward plan and arrange time off to attend the interviews.
Formal face to face interviews will be held in Darwin, Northern Territory. Applicants are responsible for all costs associated with attending interviews.
Transfers
NTGPE invites inquiries from registrars wishing to transfer from other regional training providers interested in a unique learning experience in Aboriginal primary health care and/or rural and remote training.
Before applying for a transfer the applicant must discuss alternative options, which may exist, such as applying for leave of absence with their Medical Educator. Applications for transfer are made to Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) via its website. All applications for transfer must be signed and approved by the originating Regional Training Provider, NTGPE and Australian General Practice Training.
Applications for transfer between Rural and General training pathways must also be made to Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) via its website.
