International Medical graduatesClinical Bridging Course

NTGPE is the only provider of a clinical bridging course for International Medical Graduates in the Northern Territory.

This unique course focuses on clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes as well as cultural competence in the Australian health system. The course provides IMGs with a structured, clinically relevant and exam focused clinical course. The course aims to support IMGs to be clinically effective and to enable their self-evaluation of their clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes as they affect professional behaviors within the Australian Health System. Courses run yearly at various locations nationally depending on need. Current locations include Major cities in the Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria and Queensland.

Target audience: Those sitting OSCE type exams e.g. AMC part 2 and RACGP/FACRRM exams.

The Clinical Bridging Course offers participants:

  • Cultural competence training facilitated by a cultural expert and a medical facilitator;
  • Clinical training using a wide variety of simulated cases that focuses on clinical, ethical, medico legal and cross-cultural issues relevant to the Australian health context, clinical training involves the use of team based objective structured clinical examination (tOSCE);
  • Feedback from their peers who can offer valuable insight experiences;
  • Individual video of their OSCE consultations with individual feedback of their performance;
  • Facilitator feedback to the group;
  • A variety of clinical resources specific to the Australian context;
  • Mentoring for examination, workplace and clinical practices.

Following successful completion of the course participants recieve:

  • Certificate of Completion for the Clinical Bridging
  • Course Certificate of Cultural Competence in the Australian Health System
