For the last 19 years Stephen worked at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, most recently for seven years as a senior executive with responsibility for finance, budget, campus services, planning and facilities. Stephen has over 26 years’ experience in higher education, both in government (Canberra) and in universities in a variety of roles. In addition, while in Brisbane Stephen was a Director of a university innovation company as well as a Director on the boards of a private school, an aged care service and a hospital. Stephen is very interested in education and health and, in particular, improving the health outcomes for Aboriginal people. This will be the second time Stephen has worked in the NT; previously working as a labourer in Gove in the early 1980s before commencing university studies. Stephen has tertiary qualifications in science and economics and is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. |

Dr Nigel Gray | Director of Training (0.5FTE alt Wed, Thurs and Fri)

Qualifications: MB ChB, FRACGP, GCHPE. Nigel divides his time between clinical general practice, including the supervision of GP registrars, and NTGPE's Director of Training role. He attained his FRACGP in 2001 after completing his formal general practice training in the UK, and has subsequently attained a Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education through Monash University for which he received a Dean's commendation. Nigel has been employed by NTGPE from 2004, initially in a shared role as medical educator and supervisor liaison officer, a position he held for over six years. The Directorship portfolio includes overall responsibility for NTGPE's medical education and training program, its design, implementation and evaluation; in addition Nigel remains heavily involved with education delivery, to both Registrars and Supervisors, most commonly within workshop settings. He also maintains training advisor responsibilities for the majority of NTGPE's GP registrars, co-chairs the Accreditation and Monitoring Review Committees and provides input to CIEG, SAC and RAC. Nationally, Nigel has been NTGPE's AMEN representative for more than five years and has presented at the majority of AMEN meetings and GP training conferences during the last ten years. |

Christine Heatherington-Tait | Executive Manager Education and Support

Christine’s background is in vocational education and training as a TAFE teacher in Business and IT and having operated her own business in providing book-keeping and administration training services. Christine holds qualifications in training, including an Associate Diploma Education (Adult/Vocational) and Cert IV Workplace Training. Christine joined NTGPE back in 2008 as the GP registrar program manager and coordinated the general practice education of 60 GP registrars and helped grow the program to the 184 GP registrars we manage today. In 2014 NTGPE shifted an organisational focus towards continuous quality improvement which saw Christine accepting the role of Quality Assurance Manager which included responsibilities for Bi-College Accreditation of NTGPE. With the broad organisational knowledge gained from Christine’s previous roles at NTGPE, she commenced in the leadership role of Executive Manager Education and Support in 2016. This is a strategic and operational position designed to oversee the operational management of NTGPE’s GP registrar, GP supervisor and practice accreditation, John Flynn placement and pastoral care programs. The role is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate internal controls and quality assurance systems to support NTGPE’s vision of continuous quality improvement. Brisbane born and raised, Christine has travelled the country with her husband who is with the Bureau of Meteorology, living in Rockhampton, Darwin, Gove, Melbourne, Coffs Harbour and then back to Darwin. She came to NTGPE after working for the Law Society NT where she was the Continuing Professional Development Officer for the legal profession. |
