RACGP has published an insightful online story of Dr de Zoete’s life journey during her GP training and her rural NT career pathway afterwwards, including an extended stay in the remote community of Balgo through to her current residence in Wyndham.
In this article she shares her insights and experiences, including learning to make peace with the limitations of remote health. Although remote practice is not for everyone, Dr de Zoete urges those interested to take on a locum role. “I’d definitely encourage coming up and giving it a try; doing some locum work for a few weeks a year. It’s an enjoyable workplace -more challenging and interesting with plenty of variety.”
