Financial Assistance: |
The NTGPE Central Australian RUSC
Program assists students who seek placements in Aboriginal Primary
Health Care in Central Australia, and in other GP services in the
Central Australian region. NTGPE will also arrange and pay for your
accommodation whilst on placement, the cost of your orientation
program, and transport to and from your community. Your university
may also be able to provide financial assistance. Costs associated
with travel from interstate is not funded by the CA RUSC Program.

Transport in Central Australia is often by light aircraft |
Transport: |
Moving people around Central Australia
can always lead to a bit of adventure, students will either fly
on a small aircraft, travel by 4wd vehicle or in some cases catch
a bus and be met by the community clinic remote area nurse. All
expenses are met by the CA RUSC. (Overseas students will be required
to pay for this travel but we attempt to keep such costs to a minimum).

Student Internet Communications
(SIC) pilot project |
A recent initiative in the CA RUSC program is the remote
community Student Internet Communications pilot project. Previously
internet communications has been slow (1.2k) and relied on the student
having their own laptop computer or accessing the clinic computer.
The SIC pilot project is a collaboration between the CA RUSC and the
Ngaanyatjarra Health Service to place a new computer and a two way
satellite connect in the student’s unit, this will achieve a
download speed of 400k and 64k upload speed. The success of this pilot
project may lead to more such systems being established.
