Training Details:
Basic, Advanced and Subsequent experience. Rural Training Position. Composite Posts have been available with Gove District Hospital since 1997. These are likely to be shared with Miwatj Health. One post comprises of three sessions per week in Endeavour Medical Centre General Practice and seven sessions per week attached to the district hospital. Experienced doctors act as supervisors within the hospital and region. The general practice component is supervised by Dr Denis Chew, an experienced rural general practitioner with interests in occupational medicine, counseling and acupuncture.

The Hospital attachment includes an opportunity to work with the District Medical Officers in providing medical care and emergency service to the outlying regions, principally Aboriginal communities in addition to general medical duties. This position is a composite post and is equivalent to 3 months GP training and three months special skills or hospital training.

Experience in both obstetrics and anaesthetics is an advantage and there is ample opportunity to maintain and further develop these skills. Registrars will develop skills in rural general practice (mainly young families), Aboriginal health, tropical medicine, surgical procedures, anaesthetics, occupational health and more.

The registrar will be based at Gove District Hospital. A furnished house/flat and car (4WD) are provided at modest cost.
