Entrance to Bagot Community Health Centre
Description:
Bagot Community Health Centre is a small health centre located in the centre of Darwin on Aboriginal land. The clinic services about 400 local people - some people have lived on this land for generations, some have moved from the bush and others are passing through. The clinic is well equipped and staffed by Aboriginal Health Workers with a GP session in the morning. Advanced registrars and mentors may have an opportunity to work in the clinic.
Training Details:
The clinic employs a number of part time doctors, a nurse and two health workers as well as Administrative staff and has an affiliation with NTGPE as a teaching centre. This placement provides excellent learning opportunities to work in a multidisciplinary team and to learn about the health of rural people in the north of Australia. Perhaps most importantly it provides an opportunity to learn about the health of a community as well as individuals and take part in some of the 'public health' activities
