Description:
Yulara Village is the service city for visitors to Uluru (AyersRock) National Park. It was purpose built to cater to theincreasing amount of visitors to the park. Yulara offers multistandard accommodation, a visitor centre, a domestic airportand all the facilities you would expect in a modern tourist village.
Ayers Rock Medical Centre:
The Ayers Rock Medical Centre is operated by the RoyalFlying Doctor Service (RFDS) and is unique in that it is the onlyRFDS site that operates Road Ambulances.It incorporates consultation rooms, emergency facilities and aparamedical service. As required, aircraft from the AliceSprings Base are used for emergencies and patient transfers. Yulara has a resident population of approximately 1,000 peoplebut over 400,000 people each year travel through this remotebut very popular tourist destination. The Medical Centre provides a 24 hour, 7 days a week healthcare service for residents and visitors to Ayers Rock and thesurrounding areas. General medical practice services areprovided by the Centre’s doctors and nurses and a range ofancillary services are available on a regular basis by appointment. Most of the cases presented are diverse and unpredictable. The improved accessibility of Ayers Rock for traveller’s hasseen an increase in visitors to the area and consequentlypatients treated at the Medical Centre. Many tourists’ undertakethe climbs and walks available in this picturesque area butthere are some who exceed the level of physical activity thatthey would normally do. With temperatures often in the high 40’s, it is not uncommon totreat people who are suffering heat stroke, stress or exhaustion.
