Approximately 300 (110 non-aboriginal) in Timber Creek Council area. During the tourist season there can be an additional 250 people each night within a 12-mile radius of Timber Creek.

Timber Creek is a town of 150 people situated 300kms SW of Katherine on the No 1 Highway on the way to Kununurra in West Australia. The doctor provides services to 8 communities over 30,000 sq kms, with approx 800 patients. 80% of patients are aboriginal. 4 communities have clinics with nurses or Aboriginal Health Workers. The doctor spends 5 days a fortnight at Timber Creek, 3 at Yarralin, 1 at Amanbidji and 1 at Bulla. The nearest hospital is at Katherine. The doctor is one of 3 doctors working for the Katherine West Health Board, an aboriginal run health service that provides health services from Katherine west to the border with West Australia. The other 2 doctors are at Kalkarinji and Lajamanu, 300 and 400kms to the south respectively.
