Description:
Kalkarindji is the traditional home of the Gurindji people whoachieved Australia's first recognition of an Aboriginal land claimwhen they were handed back 3,200 sq km of Wave Hill stationin 1975. Kalkarindji has a health service consisting of a residentGP and health team run by Katherine West Health Board .

Seasonal Access:
Sealed road to Katherine may be cut off for short periods duringthe wet season. The airstrip may also be unusable for shortperiods during the wet.
