Atitjere Community is located 215 kms from Alice Springs by road and it takes 2 ½ hours to drive there. The Plenty Highway is sealed and in good condition for the first 150 kms from the Stuart Highway, while the remaining 65 kms to Atitjere is a gravel formation with sealed floodways

The DMO visits the community for approx 3 days every 3 weeks, with 2 days spent in Atitjere and 1 at Engawala. Various specialists also visit at intervals, including a Chronic Disease Physician, Cardiologist, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a Paediatrician.
