Road:
Galiwinku is an island in the Arafura Sea approximately 550kms east of Darwin. Driving to Galiwinku from Darwin would take approximately two days. An ocean crossing (barge service to transport the 4WD) between the mainland and Galiwinku would also be required.
Air:
Depart Galiwinku 10:30 hrs arrive Darwin 13:15hrs. One stop of 30minutes at Maningrida. Air North provides a regular passenger service to Galiwinku with daily flights from Monday to Saturday.
A 45-minute charter flight is available to Nhulunbuy/Gove, the nearest mainland town.
Seasonal Access:
Bad weather can delay or cancel flights and the barge service. Galiwinku is affected by the Cyclone Season from October – May.
Outstations Serviced:
Marthakal Resource Centre services the outstations. Ngalkanbuy Health Service provides acute support to outstations when requested by Marthakal Resource Centre. Outstation clients access both services.
Description:
Ngalkanbuy Health Service has five consultation rooms and employs a team of twenty staff to deliver a range of health programs including; Men’s Health, Women’s Health & ANC, Paediatric Program & Immunisation Program, Chronic Disease Program, Mental Health Program, GP Service, visiting specialists, visiting dentist, Emergency Service.
The Clinic is open from 0900 – 1200 & 1400 – 1630 (M-F)
