Our eight remote health centres deliver a range of clinical and population health services. We have a head office in Katherine.
We are an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service governed by a board of eighteen community members. We have a strong consultative relationship between our health service and the communities we work in.
We have a fully networked electronic clinical information system (a first in NT remote health).
Katherine West Health Board has a strong emphasis on quality initiatives such as electronic information management, Structured Care Planning, Quality use of Medicines and participation in the National Primary Care Collaboratives.
The registrar position will offer a well-supported experience in remote indigenous health as part of a multidisplinary team and an opportunity to be involved in clinical care with a strong public health perspective.
The registrar will be working in a community with another GP at least 50% of the time they are “out bush”. At other times telephone support is always available from our other GPs
On Fridays the register will be in Katherine and participate in clinical audit and educational sessions as well as office time for follow-up work.
We are very interested in future workforce and as with our Pre Vocational Junior Doctors, the emphasis will be on a well supported and rewarding clinical and cultural experience.
