Description:
Alice Springs Family Medical Centre provides general practice medical services. Currently there is one female fulltime GP, one female fulltime practice nurse, and one part-time female practice nurse. We have plans to incorporate a GP registrar, and have both medical and nursing students through the practice later in the year. We are involved in the National Primary Care Collaborative (NPCC) which is a national wide run program through Flinders University
This involves us focusing on three different outcomes; they are

better patient access
diabetes management and
coronary heart disease care

Hours:
Monday 0830 – 1900
Tuesday 0830 – 1730
Wednesday 0830 – 1900
Thursday 0830 – 1730
Friday 0830 – 1730 Saturday 0900 - 1300

Programs:

Diagnosis and management of short term illness
Management and coordination of care for chronic illness
Work related injury and illness
Travel advice and immunisation
Insurance and employment medicals (prior arrangement with practice manager)
Driving medicals
Minor operative procedures
Sporting injuries
Treatment for skin lesions
Musculoskeletal Medicine

Specialised programs

Senior's ( 75 years + ) Health Assessments and Care Planning
Cardiovascular Program, including our “Healthy Heart” walking group on Tuesday nights
Diabetes Program
Special mini flu clinic planned for March 2007 – fluvax/pneumovax immunisations only for that session
Recall service to assist with management of both chronic diseases and routine check-ups such as pap smears, breast checks / MMGs, immunisations
Planned diabetes clinics run by practice nurses later in the year
Planned education evenings on certain topics such as depression, diabetes; client/patient feedback will determine topics chose
