Description
Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (CAAC, or Congress) is the largest community controlled health service in the NT. It services the Alice Springs Aboriginal population and outlying outstations within 100kms of Alice Springs. Congress is the second oldest community controlled health service in the country and was established in 1973 by local Aboriginal people to provide a culturally appropriate health service for Aboriginal people.

Congress provides a comprehensive primary health care service, inclusive of health promotion programs research and associated allied health services. Congress also manages a child care centre, Alukura (an Aboriginal birthing and women's health centre), a dental clinic, counselling services, a family support program, a men's health program, welfare and transport services. Congress is a large well equiped clinic with eighteen consulting rooms, on site pharmacy, emegency room with defibrillator and onsite audiology. Congress has an onsite library broadband Internet access and is within 400m of Alice Springs Hosptial.

Training Details
This Aboriginal Health Service takes Registrars for Basic and Advanced GP terms in 6-month blocks. There is an opportunityto be involved in all the issues of Community Health teamwork together with general practice. This institution has been established for over 20 years and is a lively and very intellectually stimulating environment. You are working for an Aboriginal organisation, which has in many respects set the standards for primary health care in rural and remote areas.
