Prevocational Genral Practice Placement Program:
The Pre-Vocational GP Placement Program (PVGPPP) is designed for junior, hospital based doctors (PGY2-3) and will provide them with the opportunity to gain exposure to primary health care in RRMA 4-7 locations. Each placement will be up to 13 weeks in a remote community within the NT, with one week of orientation prior to placement in the community

PVGPPP Doctors will receive high quality training in procedural and other practice skills in a wide range and depth of clinical situations. The remote experience will further enhance learning when the Doctor returns to the parent hospital.

Aims of the Program:
• To increase the number of PGY 2-3 doctors participating in a term of rural general practice / rural community experience.

• To provide a high quality learning experience - both clinical and social - in a setting other than a major teaching or provincial hospital.

• To provide the experience and to encourage RMO’s to chose General Practice as a speciality.

Support to Junior Doctor:
• Junior Doctors will have support available to them via a Medical Educator assigned to the PVGPP Program and the Program Coordinator based in Darwin, both are contactable by phone.

•Second weekly  teleconferences designed for both educational support, mentoring and networking.

• One-week orientation provided prior to placement.

Accommodation:
Accommodation will be provided at no charge to the Doctor in the community, other than the electricity. Accommodation can vary from a 3 bedroom house to 2 bedroom duplex or demountable, and are all fully self contained and usually situation close to the clinic
