Description:
Yulara Village is the service city for visitors to Uluru (Ayers Rock) National Park. It was purpose built to cater to the increasing amount of visitors to the park. Yulara offers multi standard accommodation, a visitor centre, a domestic airport and all the facilities you would expect in a modern tourist village
.

Ayers Rock Medical Centre:
The Ayers Rock Medical Centre is operated by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and is unique in that it is the only RFDS site that operates Road Ambulances.

It incorporates consultation rooms, emergency facilities and a paramedical service. As required, aircraft from the Alice Springs Base are used for emergencies and patient transfers.
Yulara has a resident population of approximately 1,000 people but over 400,000 people each year travel through this remote but very popular tourist destination.

The Medical Centre provides a 24 hour, 7 days a week health care service for residents and visitors to Ayers Rock and the surrounding areas. General medical practice services are provided by the Centre’s doctors and nurses and a range of ancillary services are available on a regular basis by appointment.

Most of the cases presented are diverse and unpredictable. The improved accessibility of Ayers Rock for travellers has seen an increase in visitors to the area and consequently patients treated at the Medical Centre. Many tourists undertake the climbs and walks available in this picturesque area but there are some who exceed the level of physical activity that they would normally do.

With temperatures often in the high 40’s, it is not uncommon to treat people who are suffering heat stroke, stress or exhaustion.
