Description:
Gove District Hospital is located in the town of Nhulunbuy and services the East Arnhem District. Stretching from Milingimbi in the west to Groote Eylandt in the southeast, the East Arnhem District covers an area of 6400 sq km with a population in excess of 15,000. The hospital is an authorised 30-bed hospital with staff specialists from Royal Darwin Hospital and visiting medical officer from both Darwin and interstate providing a broad range of specialist services. Services are provided by the following disciplines: general surgery, medicine, paediatrics, cardiology, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ear, nose and throat, ophthalmology and psychiatry.

Gove District Hospital provides Air Med retreivals to communities and a 24 hour District Medical office (DMO) service twice weekly to communities in the region.

Regular passenger flights approximately 1.5 hrs flying time

Seasonal Access:
Road closed during the wet season. Subject to severe weather events during the Wet Season and during the Cyclone season from October – May.
